This is Ole. He comes to the farm with his mom Sara and his Grandma Pam. They visit the farm when they can because Ole loves the farm. This fall he helped pick the remaining carrots and insisted we all stay on the project longer than the adults might have. He especially loves the pigs. This is obvious as you see him with Mabel below.

What's going on with Ole is the best part of farming for us: relationship with the land.

Not everyone can live on a farm, but together we can all be a part of building relationship with the land that sustains us. Our mission is to raise produce as if you've grown and picked it yourself. Our animals are raised with respect, allowing their natural innate instincts for free range living. We plan for the farm to provide what the animals and plants need. Growing crops for feed and using natural fertilizing methods is all a part of our sustainable plan.

Everything we plant is grown according to organic standards and practices. We know this is important to families because it is important to ours. The foundation of happiness is vibrant health. And it starts with the food we eat and where it comes from.

We consider our members and customers a part of our farm. We plan our operations with you in mind: how can the farm meet or exceed the goals of relationship and wholesome foods?

Sharing the farm experience is also a part of our mission. You are welcome to spend time at Merry Gardens for a few minutes or for a few days. The guest house on the farm allows us to offer a FarmStay for up to 6-8 people. Join us in our daily activities if you like and experience what being on the farm is all about. Or simply stroll around the fields and woods for a relaxing and restorative stay. Our farm is a short drive from several small lakes, Itasca State Park, and the gorgeous Buckboard Hills. The city of Bemidji is also nearby, nestled around Lake Bemidji and home to Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.
